The Miami Marlins have acquired Luis Arraez in a trade with the Minnesota Twins, according to sources.

Arraez will head to Miami, while right-hander Pablo Lopez and a pair of prospects will be sent to Minnesota. The two prospects are highly-regarded teenagers shortstop Jose Salas and outfielder Byron Chourio.

Arraez, 25, won't hit free agency until after the 2025 season.

The Minnesota Twins are exploring possible trades for Luis Arraez with an eye on adding a starting pitcher, according to a report.

The Twins have been searching for controllable pitchers with Sonny Gray, Kenta Maeda and Tyler Mahle all eligible for free agency after 2023.

With Carlos Correa back on the roster, the likelihood of an Arraez trade has increased.

The Oakland Athletics haven't shown much interest in trading Ramon Laureano after the Minnesota Twins inquired about the outfielder's availability, according to a report.

The A's have traded away most of their core players over the past 18 months while stripping down their payroll.

Laureano, 28, won't be a free agent until 2026.

The right-hander is controllable through 2024. Lopez makes sense for the Cardinals, who have four starting pitchers that are eligible for free agency after the 2023 season.

Opposing teams have balked at the Pittsburgh Pirates' asking price for Bryan Reynolds in trade talks, according to a report.

Reynolds, 27, requested a trade more than a month ago.

A rival executive told Jon Heyman the Pirates are looking for a return package comparable to what the Washington Nationals received from the San Diego Padres for Juan Soto at the 2022 trade deadline.

The Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins have discussed trade scenarios involving Pablo Lopez, according to a report.

Max Kepler and Luis Arraez have come up in discussions about who the Twins would send back to the Marlins for Lopez.

It was also reported that Minnesota contacted Miami about Lopez in mid-December.

Lopez, 27, has posted a sub-4.00 ERA in each of the last three seasons and the Marlins have a surplus of starting pitching.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have set a lofty price in trade talks involving Bryan Reynolds, but that hasn't stopped a number of clubs from engaging.

"Many teams" have been involved in talks with the Pirates about Reynolds, who is controllable through 2025. The outfielder requested a trade in early December. 

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners have been linked to Reynolds.

The Miami Marlins and Boston Red Sox have discussed a potential trade centered around prospect Triston Casas, according to a report.

Casas, a first baseman, is Boston's No. 2 prospect and the 25th overall (per MLB.com).

The report also stated that the Marlins are willing to move one starting pitcher this offseason.
